Beautiful Los Gatos cuddles up to the Santa Cruz Mountains' green foothills like two cats, for which the town is named (Gatos means cats in Spanish). Los Gatos is one of Santa Clara County's oldest communities, with a population of about 28,850 residents living in a 14 square-mile area. Los Gatos residents pride themself on being a "self-contained community" that strives to keep it's "small town" feel.

The town of Los Gatos is situated at the Santa Clara Valley's Southwest edge. The downtown shopping area, located along Santa Cruz Avenue and Main Street, looks like a classic American small town from a Norman Rockwell painting. There are unique stores and fine restaurants here that draw customers from all over the Bay Area. Not only does the lovely downtown have nice stores and restaurants but also has many sidewalk cafes, clothing stores, luxury hotels, antique shops, art galleries, and even a small movie theatre. Window shop at the three car dealerships located right in downtown Los Gatos. There you will find a Bentley, Rolls Royce,and a Lamborghini dealership.

The neighborhoods have immaculately-maintained Victorian homes. But despite its appearance as a small American town, it's one of the most expensive places to buy a home in the Silicon Valley. There are summer concerts in downtown, Christmas Tree Lighting at the Town Plaza Park, Vasona Lake County Park has plenty of walking trails, fishing and boating.

Los Gatos has excellent schools. They include Daves Elementary, Blossom Hill Elementary, Van Meter Elementary,Fisher Middle School and Los Gatos High School.

A short 20-minute drive through the Santa Cruz Mountains' redwoods brings you to the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. A 15-minute drive in the other direction will take you to downtown San Jose, Capital of Silicon Valley or the San Jose Norman Mineta International Airport.
